BVIP is seeking enthusiastic foreign-born residents of the Bow Valley to join the Immigrant Advisory Group (IAG).

Working alongside the BVIP Partnership Council, the Immigrant Advisory Group (IAG) meets to help implement BVIP's 2019-2023 Integration Strategy, and identify and respond to emerging integration challenges.

This is not a paid opportunity, but we can help with transportation costs.

Who Should Apply?

Please apply to join the IAG if:

  1. You were born outside of Canada

  2. You now live in Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw, Harvie Heights, Lac Des Arcs, Dead Man's Flats, or Kananaskis

  3. You believe a diverse and inclusive community is a healthy community

  4. You are interested in helping your community

  5. You feel comfortable communicating in English in a supportive and friendly environment

What Do IAG Members Do?

  • Meet at least 4 times a year

  • Advise on the activities of BVIP from the perspective of newcomers.

    • (Example: Making recommendations about BVIP priorities, helping to plan activities to build a welcoming community, contributing to marketing campaigns, suggesting new partnerships, and more.)  

  • Share information between BVIP and community groups 

  • Help recruit new IAG members throughout the year

  • Help elect IAG chairpersons and liaisons to the BVIP Partnership Council

  • Promote the work and values of BVIP through friends, community channels, and networks

  • Act as champions of welcoming and inclusive communities

  2. The BVIP Executive Committee will review your application. We aim to recruit a diverse membership, which reflects the Bow Valley community.

  3. If your application is accepted, you will be invited to attend an Immigrant Advisory Group meeting.

We ask many questions on this application form so that we can ensure people with different experiences can participate in the Immigrant Advisory Group.
